This year celebrates the 30th anniversary of the landmark Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, where representatives from 189 countries adopted the historic Beijing Declaration and the Platform for Action, establishing a global roadmap for gender equality. To mark the occasion, China will host the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, the first in a decade since the 2015 event, to promote women's development worldwide.

CGTN Stringer hit the streets in China and countries in Africa and Latin America, inviting locals to discuss topics such as their female role models and their views on women's rights in China. One interviewee, Aqsa Aziz Khan from Johannesburg, said, "China has made much progress in terms of women's education and their workforce participation. We are seeing that women are also participating in the fields that were male-dominated, like technology and businesses." Another interviewee, Khomotjo Mabusela from Cape Town, said that nowadays, many Chinese entrepreneurs operating in the South African market are women.
