Aug. 6, 2024 -- Palestine is competing at the Paris Olympics. Swimmer Yazan Al Bawwab has told CGTN correspondent Ken Browne that it's honor to represent Palestine, both in sports and as an advocate for human rights.

YAZAN AL BAWWAB Palestinian Swimmer "I swam to my second Olympic Games. It was difficult being here, I think, in terms of the swimming, in terms of the preparation, in terms of, you know, what a Palestinian athlete would feel compared to every other athlete, what a Palestinian athlete has to say, what a Palestinian athlete has to do. We're you know, it's really unfortunate that, you know, my role as an athlete has to also be a person to advocate for human rights, where, you know, it should be logical. But, I mean, it's an amazing experience to be here, and I'm one of 15 million people that, you know, doesn't have a recognized country to be here to raise a flag. It's an honor.
