What is the South-South Human Rights Forum
In 2017, China launched the South-South Human Rights Forum to promote human rights in developing countries. Let's take a look at what it's been doing.
Overview of the South-South Human Rights Forum
The South-South Human Rights Forum is a biennial event, and this year is the third of its kind. The forum serves as a platform for the international community in general and global South countries in particular to discuss the current situation, challenges and advancements relating to human rights cooperation. CGTN produces four episodes of in-depth series reports on South-South Human Rights Forum. Today we are going to check the first episode, the overview of the forum. This year's forum will feature discussions on the theme "Putting People First and Global Human Rights Governance". At this third gathering, guests and participants will exchange views on South-South cooperation and human rights development and explore practical ways of building a community of shared future for human beings.
A bridge for South-South cooperation
South-South cooperation is, in essence, economic and technical cooperation among the developing countries of the Global South. Along with political dialogue and financial cooperation, South-South cooperation promotes the exchange of knowledge and expertise through programs, projects and initiatives designed to solve specific problems faced by the countries of the Global South. Today, the steady improvement in the human rights situation in the developing countries is contributing significantly to the advancement of the human rights cause worldwide.
