According to the China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS), the Third China-Latin American and Caribbean States Roundtable on Human Rights will feature a record-breaking scale, marking the largest edition to date.

Scheduled for September 15 in Lima, Peru, under the theme "Multilateralism and Human Rights," the roundtable will convene nearly 200 delegates from China and 23 Latin American and Caribbean nations to focus on key issues including peaceful development and human rights governance, China-Latin American and Caribbean States practical cooperation and human rights development, and mutual learning among diverse human rights civilizations; it will highlight the intrinsic link between peaceful development and human rights protection, focus on translating pragmatic cooperation in trade, poverty alleviation, healthcare, and education into tangible human rights advancements, and champion diverse pathways to human rights realization while deepening mutual learning and dialogue.

In recent years, the international community has increasingly turned its focus to the practical realities and legitimate aspirations of developing countries within the global human rights discourse. As the first institutionalized dialogue platform in the field of human rights between China and Latin American countries, the China-Latin American and Caribbean States Roundtable on Human Rights has established a pioneering model of equal dialogue on human rights among developing nations.

In 2024, the inaugural China-Latin American and Caribbean States Roundtable on Human Rights in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, released the think tank report "Common Goal: China-Latin America and the Caribbean Cooperation on Human Rights Development, the Present and the Future." In 2025, the Second China-Latin American and Caribbean States Roundtable on Human Rights held in São Paulo, Brazil, reached the "São Paulo Consensus on China-Latin American and Caribbean States Human Rights Communication and Cooperation" and officially launched the "China-Latin American and Caribbean States on Human Rights Research and Cooperation Network," institutionalizing long-term cooperation in human rights research through information sharing, joint research, talent development, and mutual learning.

This roundtable is hosted by the China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS), Renmin University of China (RUC), and Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, and organized by the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China (RDCY), the School of Global Leadership, Renmin University of China (SGL), and Instituto Peruano de Estudios de Política Internacional. The conference introduces new agenda items, including the release of China-Latin American and Caribbean human rights cooperation achievements and the signing and announcement of annual joint research programs. Fostering the deep integration of multilateralism and human rights protection amid evolving geopolitical dynamics will be a central topic of discussion at the conference.

Serving as a continuation and deepening of long-standing friendly exchanges in human rights between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries, this roundtable will further enhance mutual understanding and trust, injecting new momentum into improving global human rights governance and building a more equitable and reasonable international order.
