A delegation of experts and officials from multiple countries visited Yanglingzi School on Monday in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, to see the achievements of AI-assisted special education.

Founded in 1984, Hangzhou Yanglingzi School has a reputation as a benchmark institution for special education in Zhejiang province. In recent years, the school has shifted its support services from standardized to personalized approaches using digital and intelligent solutions.

The school focuses on students with developmental disabilities, such as autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy. It serves over 250 students aged 4 to 20 with intellectual disabilities in 23 classes, and is supported by a dedicated faculty and staff of over 100. The students have access to a lifelong, entirely free special education support system that spans preschool rehabilitation, nine-year compulsory education, and integrated secondary and higher vocational education.

After the visit, Mohammed Saqib, founder and director of the Center of Geoeconomics for the Global South, shared a positive impression of China's human rights development experience and initiatives. "I think China's human rights is [sic] more inclusive; they talk more about the community rights," he said.

Saqib added that while not every country has the resources to emulate China's approach, they can potentially adapt its community mindset. "But I think apart from the money, it is the vision," he said. "It is the leadership, the commitment of your people and commitment of your leaders, and the devotion."
