Human rights experts discussed China's promotion of all-around advancement of human rights and active participation in global human rights affairs at a symposium on Friday.
The symposium, held by the China Society for Human Rights Studies, gathered human rights experts from universities, scientific research institutions and relevant departments to share views on the study and implementation of the spirit of the fourth plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
The Recommendations of the CPC Central Committee for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development calls for promoting all-around advancement of human rights. The plenary session put forward inspiring goals and practical measures to promote the comprehensive protection of all human rights, especially economic, social and cultural rights, said Shen Yongxiang, vice president of the China Society for Human Rights Studies.
Li Xiao, standing council member of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, said that protecting people's personal rights, property rights and personality rights as mandated by law; making people feel fairness and justice in every judicial case, and improving legal protection for human rights are important for moving to a higher stage in building a socialist country under the rule of law.
Ding Yadong, deputy secretary-general of the China Foundation for Rural Development, stressed the importance of guaranteeing farmers' rights and letting them share the opportunities and benefits of development.
Qi Yanping, director of the Center for Sci &Tech and Human Rights Studies at the Beijing Institute of Technology, said that it is essential to embed the concept of dignity into technology design and ensure technology serves the greater good.
The participants of the symposium vowed to further upgrade human rights theories, accelerate the construction of an original knowledge system of human rights that is in line with the development of China's human rights cause, and contribute to strengthening China's voice in international human rights exchanges.
