China's State Council Information Office on Sunday released a report on human rights violations in the U.S. in 2024, revealing that under the collusion of power and capital, human rights have been distorted into mere props in a political "show" and bargaining chips in a power "casino," completely deviating from the core values and fundamental principles of human rights.
In this self-styled “beacon of human rights,” human rights have become the preserve of a privileged few. Over 40 million live in poverty, more than 700,000 are homeless, and gun violence claims countless lives—leaving “American-style human rights” in tatters.
Yet amid entrenched racism, unchecked police brutality, and deep political division, the U.S. still plays the role of “human rights judge.” Such hypocrisy is the sharpest satire: does this so-called “beacon” shine only on the privileged, while leaving the majority in darkness?
