The 18th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities convened in New York on Tuesday. Concurrently, to mark the inaugural International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, a special exhibition, "Beautiful Crafts Workshop Blooming in New York", opened at the UN headquarters on the same day, featuring over 200 exquisite cultural and creative works made by Chinese women with disabilities. Exhibits ranged from intricately crafted embroidery pieces, such as Lu Embroidery, Han Embroidery, Shu Embroidery, and Zhuang Brocade, to uniquely shaped ceramic wares, brightly colored woven crafts and symbolic fabric dolls, reflecting the ingenuity and dedication of the artisans.
These artworks, created by women with disabilities from 40 "Beautiful Crafts Workshop" institutions in 23 provincial-level regions across China, demonstrated their skills and conveyed their love for life, unwavering pursuit of dreams, and courageous perseverance in the face of adversity.

Representatives from UN Women and other international organizations, along with guests from around the world, visited the exhibition and praised the cultural and artistic value embodied in the works. Foreign delegates engaged in conversations with attending staff while visiting the exhibition, learning about the stories behind the exhibits and gaining insights into China's innovative efforts and positive practices in promoting employment and entrepreneurship for women with disabilities and safeguarding the rights of people with disabilities.
They lauded China's remarkable achievements in ensuring the equal participation of persons with disabilities in society and helping them realize their full potential, saying these offer valuable experience for the global disability community.
China will continue to uphold humanitarian principles, promote the high-quality development of disability-related programs, and deepen international exchanges and cooperation, Li Dongmei, vice-chairperson of the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF), emphasized during discussions with international representatives. She added that China will work together with the global community to foster a more inclusive, equitable, and beautiful world in which every people with disabilities can live and thrive.

This exhibition was organized by the CDPF and hosted by the Beijing Disabled Persons' Federation.
It not only provided a global platform for Chinese women with disabilities to share their talents and stories, but also enhanced international understanding and support for China's disability cause. Serving as a cultural bridge, the exhibition promoted mutual understanding and collective progress in protecting the rights of persons with disabilities and advancing global cultural exchange and cooperation.
