A spokesperson for the Chinese Mission to the European Union expressed strong dissatisfaction on Friday over a resolution passed by the European Parliament concerning Xizang, lodging a formal protest with the EU side.
The spokesperson condemned the resolution, saying it disregards facts and spreads false information on Xizang-related issues, maliciously smearing China's image and grossly interfering in China's internal affairs.
"We urge the European Parliament to face the facts, fully recognize the importance and sensitivity of Xizang-related issues, and truly respect China's core interests and major concerns," the spokesperson said, adding the EU side must stop using human rights as a pretext to interfere in China's internal affairs and cease sending wrong signals to anti-China separatist forces.
"Concrete actions should be taken to safeguard the overall sound and stable development of China-EU relations," said the spokesperson.
