In response to criticism of China's human rights record from the United States and a small group of other nations, Cuba, representing nearly 80 countries, reaffirmed the importance of respecting national sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity as fundamental principles of international relations.
China stands ready to work with all for an equal and orderly world multipolarization and a universal and inclusive economic globalization, to build the community of a shared future for mankind, and jointly promote the healthy development of international human rights cause, Chinese ambassador in Geneva said on Sept.11.
In September, Alena Douhan, the UN special rapporteur on the negative impact of the unilateral coercive measures, submitted her report to the 57th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. In her report, Douhan said that unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States and other countries on China violate international law, negatively affecting the human rights of the Chinese people and causing spillover effects.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the clear support from over 100 developing countries at the UNHRC is not only to defend China's legitimate rights but also to uphold international fairness and justice, safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and protect the fundamental principle of non-interference in internal affairs in international relations.
