July 16, 2024 -- China has generally maintained stable employment in the first six months, according to Wang Pingping, a claim confirmed by data from the National Bureau of Statistics.

The figures from the national average urban surveyed unemployment rate stood at 5.1 percent, marking a 0.2 percentage point decline from the previous year, according to the latest figures from the NBS on Monday.

As a comprehensive set of policies aimed at stabilizing and boosting employment have continued to take effect, the surveyed urban unemployment rate has dropped year-on-year, with the rate in 31 major cities below the national average, the NBS said.

Among the local registered labor force, the surveyed average unemployment rate was at 5.2 percent, showing a gradual drop after the Spring Festival, according to the NBS.

The rate of migrant workers remained stable, it said.
