Dec. 4, 2023 -- On December 4, a seminar commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was held in Beijing. The event drew over 70 participants, including officials from central and national agencies, representatives from central media outlets, human rights experts, scholars, and representatives from social organizations.
 
75 years ago, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights established a basic consensus on respecting and protecting human rights, said Baima Chilin, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 13th NPC and President of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, at the seminar. He noted that to review the spirit of the Declaration and clarify the coordinates and direction of global human rights governance are crucial to better safeguarding world peace and promoting common development.
 
The seminar provided a platform for in-depth discussions on topics such as the rule of law in safeguarding human rights, the protection of human rights for specific groups, common values of all humanity, and global human rights governance, and reached broad consensuses.
