CSHRS members attend UN human rights meeting in Geneva

Sept. 14, 2018 -- A sideline meeting on Development of Human Rights in China: 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up was held Tuesday during the 39th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (OHCHR) in Geneva.
 
Five members of the China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS) attended the meeting and gave an introduction of China’s achievements and experience in economic and social development, poverty elimination and ecological environment protection with vivid examples and detailed data.
 
Gui Xiaowei, representative of the CSHRS made a speech at the general debates of the 39th OHCHR session. Gui said Xinjiang, where he grew up, has made great efforts to maintain social stability and revitalize tourism while curbing the spread of religious extremism and combating terrorism and separatism.
