June 13, 2018 -- A delegation of China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS) led by Xiangba Puncog, chairman of the CSHRS, visited Italy on June 8-11.
During the visit, the delegation held talks with Ferrocci , chairman of the Italian Institute of International Affairs, Mario Boselli, chairman of the Italian-Chinese Friendship Association and Chinese Italian Gangjian Living Buddha, and met with local press in Rome.
The delegation gave an introduction of the CSHRS's role in promoting human rights and the progress China has made in developing human rights.
China welcomes other countries to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and work together to promote global human rights governance.
The delegation hopes the visit will enhance the Italian’s understanding of China’s human rights protection.
The delegation also answered questions about poverty alleviation, environment protection and so on.
The Italian side spoke highly of China’s achievements since the reform and opening up policy was adopted 40 years ago. Italy is one of the most important countries along the Belt and Road. There’s a great potential for cooperation between Italy and China in international affairs, especially on human rights.
Gangjian Living Buddha said he is happy to see China’s development and willing to help promote Italian-Chinese friendship.
The delegation left for Vienna on June 11.
