BEIJING, Feb. 26, 2018 -- The remains of Luo Haocai, former vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was cremated Saturday in Beijing.
Luo, a well-known returned overseas Chinese, jurist, educator, social activist, and an outstanding leader of the China Zhi Gong Party, died of illness on Feb. 12 in Beijing. He was 83.
He was vice chairman of the 9th and 10th National Committee of the CPPCC and chairman of the 11th and 12th Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party.
He was extolled as an excellent member of the Communist Party of China.
Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Zhang Dejiang, Yu Zhengsheng, Zhang Gaoli, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Zhao Leji, Han Zheng and other senior leaders paid their final respects at the service at Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery in Beijing.
They stood in silent tribute and bowed three times in front of Luo's body before the cremation. They also extended their condolences to his family.
Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Zhang Dejiang, Yu Zhengsheng, Zhang Gaoli, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji, Han Zheng, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao and other senior leaders either visited Luo while he was in the hospital or offered their condolences after his death.
