Sept. 26, 2017 -- The delegation of China Foundation for Human Rights Development (CFHRD), headed by Huang Mengfu, former vice-chairman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the CFHRD, visited Italy from Sept.21 to 23.

The delegation met with Di Giorgi, vice-chairman of the Italian Senate and Massimo D'Alema, former President of Italy, and held a discussion with Italian senators and experts from Italian Institute for International Political Studies and other think tanks.

During the discussion, Huang highlighted new progress China has made in its human rights development. Sticking to the people-centered philosophy and pursuing a human rights development path with Chinese characteristics, China has successfully solved the subsistence problems of more than 1.3 billion people and lifted over 700 million people out of poverty. In particular, China has proposed the roadmap of building a community of shared future for all mankind and the Belt and Road Initiative, making great contributions to global human rights governance.

Italy spoke highly of China’s human rights development and its contribution to the global human rights cause. The Italian side hoped to strengthen communications with the CFHRD to improve human rights development in the two countries.
