September 13, 2017 -- The photo exhibition titled "For a Better Life of the People", co-sponsored by the State Council Information Office (SCIO), Chinese Permanent Office to the UN at Geneva and delegation groups of international organizations in Switzerland, kicked off on Monday at the Palaise des Nations, the UN headquarters in Geneva.
"For the past 40 years since the start of reform and opening-up, particularly in the last five years, China, with remarkable achievements in the cause of human rights, has played an active role in promoting human rights on the world stage,” said Ma Zhaoxu, Permanent Representative of China to UN at Geneva at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
“China will present to the world the Chinese wisdom and approaches to tackle issues concerning human rights and build a common community of shared future for mankind,” he added.
Huang Junxian, inspector of the Department of Human Rights Affairs of the SCIO, stressed that China has entered a decisive stage of building a moderately prosperous society, which will lift the protection of basic rights of Chinese people to a higher level.
It is the first time for China to open a photo exhibition on human rights during the session of the UN Human Rights Council. The exhibition features a collection of 70 pictures and 15 short videos showcasing China’s achievements in promoting human rights and its contributions to the development of the international cause of human rights.
