May 31, 2017 -- A delegation of China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS) led by Qiangba Puncog, chairman of the CSHRS and vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, visited Chile from May 25 to May 27. To respect and protect human rights is one of the principles laid down in China’s Constitution. China has acceded to nearly 30 international human rights conventions and enacted a series of laws and regulations on human rights protection. China proposes to promote global human rights governance through equal consultation and opposes double standard and politicizing human rights issues, said Qiangba Puncog.

Chile is the first South American country to establish diplomatic relations with China and the bilateral relations have been improving. Qiangba Puncog hopes to deepen human rights exchanges and enhance mutual understanding and learning through this visit
