Luo said President Xi’s “Four Comprehensives” have added new content to the concepts of development and human rights and provided strength and long-term systematic protection. China has always considered the right to subsistence and the right to development as priorities of human rights because it is impossible to talk about other human rights without them. With the expanding and deepening of human rights studies, we have built our own human rights theory with Chinese characteristics featuring views like “people-oriented and people’s livelihood-oriented”. As a result, we have promoted China’s human rights protection and increased its international presence.

Prof. Yang Guang, Party chief of the DUFE, said in his welcome speech that development is a type of human right concerning both individuals and countries and nations. Thus, when about it comes to the right to development under the ‘new normal’, we must put people’s interests at first. The DUFE has made full use of its cross-disciplinary research advantages to produce a series of academic achievements, making it an important communication platform for China’s human rights education and research.

Li Junru and Chen Shiqiu, Vice Chairmen of the CSHRS, Li Buyun, director of the Human Rights Research School in Guanzhou University, Liu Hainian, head of the Human Rights Research Center in China Academy of Social Sciences, and Wang Xigen, director of the Human Rights Research School in Wuhan University also attended the seminar.
