Editor's Note

In order to implement the stipulation in the National Human Rights Action Plan (2012-2015) requiring the addition of no less than five national human rights education and training bases by 2015, the appraisal and selection meeting for the second group of national human rights education and training bases was held on March 17, 2014 in Beijing. Leading officials from related ministries and the China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS), members of the appraisal and selection committee and representatives from Peking University, Fudan University, the East China University of Political Science and Law, Jilin University, Shandong University, Sichuan University, Wuhan University, the Northwest University of Political Science and Law, the Southwest University of Political Science and Law and Renmin University of China attended the meeting. The universities elaborated on their current organizational arrangements, the special characteristics of their academic orientations, their management and operational mechanisms, and resources and logistics, as well as addressed inquiries from leading officials of CSHRS and experts from the appraisal and selection committee. The following are overviews of the second group of universities applying to become national human rights education and training bases.(Ten in total,another five to be published in next issue).
