Abstract

 

This is the second Blue Book on China’s human rights. Different from the first Blue Book, this Blue Book focus more on the latest developments of China’s human rights cause in 2011.

 

The book is divided into four parts: the General Report, Thematic Reports, the Special Research Report and Appendices.

 

The General Report summarizes the overall development of China’s human rights achievements period and the problems in the “Eleventh Five-Year” Period, the impact of the formation of the socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics on the protection of human rights, the formation and implementation of the National Human Rights Action Plan(20092010), and the prospects of China’s human rights development in the “Twelfth Five-Year” Period.

 

2 1 special reports are related respectively to human rights legislation, the citizens’ right to work, right to food, housing rights, the fight to health, right to education, environmental rights, fight to move, freedom of religious belief, property rights, voting rights, participation rights, the protection of the right to legal aid, the protection of the rights of women, children, the elderly, the disabled, the overseas Chinese citizens, and detainees; and international human rights cooperation.

 

The special research report is an empirical research on the situation of human rights education in China.

 

Finally, two appendices: ”The China Human Rights Memorabilia in 2011” and”The Formulated or Revised Laws and Regulations Directly Related to Human Rights in 2011”.

 

The book was written by scholars and experts in human rights research institutions from across the country. The style of the study is objective, specific, reasoned analysis carried out on the basis of flail possession of the data. It not only summarizes the achievements, but also analyzes the problems, and makes outlooks on the prospects for development of human rights in China.
