Abstract

 

This is the first Blue Book related to the development of China’s human rights. It summarizes the development of China’s basic situation of human rights since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, especially the latest developments in recent years. It summarizes the experiences and lessons in the development of human rights in China analyzes existing problems, and suggests the way to further improve the situation of human rights protection

 

The book is divided into four parts: general report, special reports, research reports and appendices.

 

The general report summarizes the basic course of the pursuit of human rights by the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese Government, the breakthrough in theory, law and practice of general cause of human rights in China since Reform and opening up, and analyzes the research teams, institutions and characteristics of human rights studies and their problems

 

In the special report section, a total of eighteen presentations, respectively, relating to civil  rights to survival, development, work, housing, social security, health, education, culture, information, voting, participation and property; protection the rights of women, the elderly, ethnic minorities and persons with disabilities; judicial protection of human rights, and  international human rights cooperation and so on

 

In the part of the research reports, there were two research reports: “Reports of human rights legislation” and”Report on the Human Rights Protection in Wenchuan Earthquake Reconstruction.”

 

Finally there are three appendices. Appendix One is the human rights Chronicle since the New China was founded Appendix Two is a compilation of China’s human rights laws and regulations. Appendix Three is the main human rights works since the New China was found.

 

The book was written by the scholars and experts of human rights institutions from all over the country. The study tries to make objective, specific, reasoned analysis based on fully shared data, sums up the achievements as well as analyzing the existing problems, and predicts the foreseeable prospect.
