Introduction

The 49th regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is being held between February 28 and April 1, 2022. Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a speech via video link at the high-level segment. Wang said that the improvement of human rights must fit the specific conditions of different countries. Representatives from the China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS) and some other NGOs held sideline events and submitted statements on a series of topics. During the session, a group of countries, including China, called on the UN human rights body to take actions to address human rights violations against indigenous people and children at immigration detention centers in some countries.
