Introduction

The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) opened its 40th regular session in Geneva, Switzerland, Feb. 25, 2019. China completed its 3rd UN Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process on March 15, 2019. The whole process is "smooth and successful." "Wide recognitions'"were achieved regarding China's human rights achievements, human rights development path and the country's determination to promote human rights situation. During the session, altogether four sideline meetings themed on human rights progress in Tibet and Xinjiang were held, introducing the development and progress of human rights in China's ethnic minority areas from all perspectives.
