Introduction

The 38th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council was held in Geneva in June, 2018. During the session, a sideline meeting on Xinjiang’s human rights development and progress was held on June 25. The meeting was sponsored by the China Society for Human Rights Studies and is the first of its kind. Some 60 representatives from government, international organizations and non-governmental organizations, along with experts, scholars and reporters, took part in the event.
