Introduction

The UN Human Rights Council is an intergovernmental organization of the UN system that consists of 47 member countries. The council is responsible for promoting and protecting human rights globally. China was elected as a member country for the fourth time on Oct. 28, 2016. China has earnestly fulfilled its duty and taken an active role in the Council. The Chinese delegation actively attends meetings of the UN Human Rights Council to publicize China’s philosophy, policies and achievements in human rights, and represent developing countries, with the aim of improving the UN human rights mechanism to address human right issues objectively and fairly.
