China issues white paper on human rights
| April, 1999 -- The Chinese government released a white paper detailing the progress made in human rights in 1998, stressing its achievements that gained dring the past 20 years since the reform and opening-up. "China witnessed continued advances in China's human rights while achieving steady development in its reform," says the white paper, published by the State Council Information Office under the title "Progress in China's Human Rights Cause in 1998." |
