China underlines "shared human future" in promoting human rights
The 34th Session of the UN Human Rights Council was held in Geneva from Feb. 27 to March 24, 2017. Representatives from 47 member countries of the UN Human Rights Council, observer states and other NGOs attended this session. The UN Secretary General delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. It was the first and most important of the three sessions held annually by the UN Human Rights Council. A wide range of subjects were discussed including death penalty, climate change and human rights, rights for the disabled and children, and ethnic issues.
