From December 26 to 30, 2022, China's first TV documentary on human rights "The New Era: Human Rights in China" was broadcast, which got nationwide attention and was well received by the academia and the public. As another successful attempt to tell China's human rights story, the documentary has ignited heated discussions online about the philosophy, path and achievements of China's human rights development. The documentary was directed by the China Society for Human Rights Studies and produced by the Chinese Global Program Center of China Media Group. Comprised of five episodes, it elaborates on Chinese President Xi Jinping's people-centered concept of human rights. It features vivid stories of people working their way toward a better life to reflect China's human rights progress since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012.
