Mr. Hu Xiaoyi, deputy minister of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, talked about the current situation of employment and social security on a press conference on Aug. 4, 2009. All the conducts harming workers' safety and health should be severely punished in accordance with the law. When talking about Hepatitis B issue, he said relevant laws have explicitly banned all the discrimination in job market. Employment Promotion Law and Labor Law both prohibit all kinds of discriminations, including gender discrimination, nationality discrimination and ethnic discrimination. Employers should not fire employees for HB issues, when HB carriers do not harm the public.

Construction of a large water-related project in Tibet has been launched recently. Once completed, the total reservoir storage capacity will be 1.17 billion cubic meters and the installed capacity of the power station will reach 120,000 kilowatts.

As a key project during the 11th Five-Year Plan period in the Tibet Autonomous Region, the total investment amounts to 4.3 billion yuan (629 million U.S. dollars). The construction period is six years.
