China open to recommendations at UN rights council

(Xinhua/Wang Siwei) GENEVA, March 20, 2014 -- China is open to recommendations made in a periodic review by UN's top human rights forum, a Chinese envoy said here Thursday. China has decided to accept 204 of the 252 recommendations in the final report of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) by the UN's Human Rights Council, accounting for 81 percent of the total, covering more than 20 areas, said Wu Hailong, Chinese ambassador to the United Nations Office at Geneva. China is determined to promote and protect human rights, and adopts an open, active and sincere attitude toward recommendations made by various countries, Wu added. |
