Eight pupils died and 32 were injured when a bus overturned in China's southernmost province of Hainan on Thursday morning.

The accident happened at about 11 a.m. in Chengmai County, where Xincai School had organized an outing for 586 students in 14 buses, according to the county government.

The purpose is to enhance mutual understanding, deepen mutual trust and promote cooperation through dialogue and exchanges. China always attaches importance and stands ready to carry out dialogue and cooperation with countries including the UK in the field of human rights based on equality and mutual respect.

But what we have seen is that the UK released a so-called Human Rights and Democracy 2013-14, making irresponsible remarks about the political system of China, slandering and criticizing China's human rights situation. China is strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to that. What the British side has done does no good to its dialogue and communication with China on the subject of human rights, nor does this benefit the sound and steady growth of China-UK relations. We urge the British side to stop using human rights as a pretext for interference in China's internal affairs and judicial sovereignty and create conditions for the next round of human rights talks.

A Chinese government regulation, made public on Wednesday, forbids citizens to bypass authorities to file complaints.

Central government departments will not take complaints about issues that should be handled by provincial governments or that are being processed by them, said Zhang Enxi, spokesman with the State Bureau for Letters and Calls, about the new regulation.

At local level, citizens should go to government departments that are authorized by law to handle relevant issues and governments at higher levels will not take their complaints if they jump rank, according to the regulation, scheduled to take effect on May 1.[page]

A national campaign will be launched to crack down on arbitrary charges by primary and secondary schools.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has pledged to resolutely crack down on terrorism and secessionism with high intensity to safeguard national security.

Xi made the remarks on Friday at the 14th group study session on national security and social stability by the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

Calling terrorism the common enemy of the people, Xi urged improving counter-terrorism systems and abilities and the public to build a "wall of bronze and iron" to fight against terrorism.

Xi urged all regions and departments to shoulder responsibilities and cooperate to maintain national security and social stability which are "extremely urgent" for deepening reforms and realizing the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.[page]

Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered troops stationed in Xinjiang to deal a "crushing blow" to terrorists.

Xi, chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks when visiting the People's Liberation Army (PLA) troops stationed in Xinjiang.

Speaking with senior PLA officials on Sunday, Xi ordered PLA forces to assist local government and party departments in combating terrorism and safeguarding social stability.

All forms of terrorism should be rooted out in an early phase, while decisive action must be taken to stop terrorists gaining momentum, he said.

China's top court said on Tuesday that all verdicts related to paroles and reduction of sentences should be posted on the Internet.

The Supreme People's Court said that such judgments are now only known by those involved in the cases, but the new order - which takes effect on June 1 - requires that the verdicts should be posted online.

Additionally, Chinese courts should post details of such cases within five days after an application.[page]

Two suspects and a citizen were killed in Wednesday's railway station terror attack in the regional capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, police said Thursday.

An investigation showed one of the two suspects was Sedirdin Sawut, a 39-year-old man from Xayar County, Aksu in southern Xinjiang.

The two have long been involved in religious extremism. At 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, they stabbed people with knives and set off explosives at the exit of Urumqi south railway station.
