China's disgruntled consumers take to the courts
The number consumer rights protection cases increased in the last four years as the public became increasingly aware of their rights. A total of 112,779 cases were heard in 2010 and the figure reached 128,198 in 2013, an increase of 13.7 percent.

CCTV gala exposes quality issues
On World Consumer Right's Day, CCTV's annual gala focused on consumer products sold in China that have quality issues. Nine products and companies with quality issues were exposed in the gala.

Consumer complaints surge in China
Chinese consumers lodged 1.02 million complaints with a government-sponsored hotline and online platform in 2013, up 13.85 percent year on year, a government report said.

Backed by revised law, Chinese consumers rise to the occasion
Under the newly amended consumer rights law that takes effect Saturday, "minimum consumption fees for VIP rooms" and "the ban of drinks and beverages brought elsewhere" -- two common practices adopted by profit-obsessed restaurants and known as "bully rules" among consumers -- are now defunct.

Law regulating E-commerce industry takes effect in China
The new provisions of the law now regulate the E-commerce industry for the first time. It allows consumers the right to return goods they bought via the Internet, television, telephone or mail order within seven days from the date of receipt.

China's Consumer Protection Law revisions take effect
China's amended law on consumer rights takes effect on Saturday, World Consumer Rights Day. The new version strengthens regulations on the e-commerce industry.
