Five universities become the second batch of national human rights education and training bases

July 23, 2014 -- The Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the State Council Information Office of the People's Republic of China held an awarding ceremony of the second batch of national human rights education and training bases in Beijing, granting Renmin University of China Research Center for Human Rights, Fudan University Research Center for Human Rights, Wuhan University Research Institute for Human Rights, Shandong University Research Center for Human Rights, Southwest University of Political Science and Law Research and Education Center for Human Rights the second batch of national human rights education and training bases. The president of China Society for Human Rights Studies Luo Haocai attended the awarding ceremony.

 

The vice Minister of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China Li Weihong said that today's China was still a developing country ,and that there were many problems and challenges on the development of human rights. Under the situation of the complicated international situation, the tough task of domestic reform and opening-up, all the universities should focus on national strategic demand, strengthen the research of the current hot problems, playing the role of  "staff" and "think tank" of the universities.

 

The vice director of the State Council Information Office of the People's Republic of China Cui Yuying said, establishing the human rights education and training bases was the solemn promise of China to the international community, and it was an important measure to push the development of human rights, indicating that Chinese government attaches great importance to the human rights.

 

The establishment of a national human rights education and training bases is an approach to implementing the relevant rules of "National Human Rights Action Plan." On July,2011, Nankai University Research Center for Human Rights, China University of Political Science and Law Research institute for Human Rights and Guangzhou University Research and Education Center for Human Rights were approved to be the first batch of national human rights education and training bases.
